Romans:  Praetorian Guard puts Purple Robe & Laurel Wreath on Emperor…

 

Mark 15: 16 & 17 (NLT)

    The soldiers took Jesus into the courtyard of the governor’s headquarters (called the Praetorium) and called out the entire regiment. 17 They dressed him in a purple robe, and they wove thorn branches into a crown and put it on his head. 

 

Romans:  Soldiers Hailed Caesar Lord & God

 

Mark 15: 16 (NLT)

 

    Then they saluted him and taunted, “Hail! King of the Jews!”

 

Romans:  Procession down the Via Sacra  (Sacred).

 

A sacrifice (Bull) being lead by someone next to him carrying the instrument of death.

 

Mark 15: 21 (NLT)

    A passerby named Simon, who was from Cyrene, was coming in from the countryside just then, and the soldiers forced him to carry Jesus’ cross.

 

Romans:  They cam e to a place Capitoline Hill (Head Hill)

 

Mark 15: 22 (NLT)

     And they brought Jesus to a place called Golgotha (which means “Place of the Skull”).

 

Romans:  Caesar was offered a cup of wine…  He would decline it…

 

Mark 15: 23 (NLT)

    They offered him wine drugged with myrrh, but he refused it.

 

Romans:  Then the sacrifice as made.

 

Mark 15: 24 (NLT)

    Then the soldiers nailed him to the cross.

 

Romans:  Caesar ascended the stairs with a subordinate on his right & left.

 

Mark 15: 27 (NLT)

 

    Two revolutionaries were crucified with him, one on his right and one on his left.

 

Romans:  Hail Caesar…

 

Mark 15: 28 (NLT)

    The people passing by shouted abuse, shaking their heads in mockery. “Ha! Look at you now!” they yelled at him. “You said you were going to destroy the Temple and rebuild it in three days.  30 Well then, save yourself and come down from the cross!”   31 The leading priests and teachers of religious law also mocked Jesus. “He saved others,” they scoffed, “but he can’t save himself! 32 Let this Messiah, this King of Israel, come down from the cross so we can see it and believe him!” Even the men who were crucified with Jesus ridiculed him.

Mark 15: 24 (NLT)

    At noon, darkness fell across the whole land until three o’clock.

Matthew 27: 51 (NLT)

    At that moment the curtain in the sanctuary of the Temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. The earth shook, rocks split apart.

 

2 Corinthians 2: 14 (NLT)

 …thank God! He has made us his captives and continues to lead us along in Christ’s triumphal procession. Now he uses us to spread the knowledge of Christ everywhere, like a sweet perfume.
