The Person of the Holy Spirit –

What He Does for Us

Ephesians 5: 18 (NLT)

     Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is God’s guarantee

Ephesians 1: 12 - 14 (NLTV)

     God’s purpose was that we Jews who were the first to trust in Christ would bring praise and glory to God.    13 And now you Gentiles have also heard the truth, the Good News that God saves you. And when you believed in Christ, he identified you as his own by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom he promised long ago. 14 The Spirit is God’s guarantee that he will give us the inheritance he promised and that he has purchased us to be his own people. He did this so we would praise and glorify him.

The Holy Spirit…

          1. Is a seal:

a.               Notarized 

     b. Ownership 

c.               Security   

d.              Authenticity 

e.               Authority 

2.               The first installment of the believer’s inheritance. 

    14The Spirit is God’s guarantee that he will give us the inheritance he promised…

3.               The Spirit of Wisdom & Revelation.

Ephesians 1: 17 (NASB)

   That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him.

4.                Helps the believe draw near to God.

Ephesians 2: 18 (NLT)

   Now all of us can come to the Father through the same Holy Spirit because of what Christ has done for us. 

Hebrews 4: 16 (NLT)

    So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.

5.               Builds the body of believers into a holy temple.  

Ephesians 2: 21 & 22 (NLT)

   We are carefully joined together in him, becoming a holy temple for the Lord. 22 Through him you Gentiles are also being made part of this dwelling where God lives by his Spirit.

6.               Strengthens the believer with power in the inner being. 

Ephesians 3: 16 (NLT)

    I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit.
