2019 Stage Backdrop Design and Build

We just wanted to take a moment and say thank you to all of the incredible volunteers that gave of their time, resources and talents to help us build our new 2019 stage back-drop. We had a fantastic crew show up on Friday and Saturday, March 29th and 30th to help construct the new back-drop.

With just an idea, we put the call out for picture frames and set a date to build our back-drop. You delivered. We had people from across our church building and donating over 75 picture frames used in our back-drop.

Our big obstacle to overcome in this build was figuring out how to hang the frames and light the set. To do that, we built a false wall and covered it in burlap, and then we attached a lighting bar across the top of the wall. With this wall, we can mount items to it and support the weight needed for any backdrop in the future.

Of course, no project is complete if something doesn't go wrong. And boy did it. After constructing our false wall, we discovered that the existing walls of the sanctuary had settled are were not level, so we had to do some minor reconstructing to compensate, which put us behind schedule. Oh well! We had a lot of laughs and loved getting to spend time with everyone that gave of their time. We just finished the wall later. This project was a complete success thanks to all of your hard work.

We try to do a new set every year, as well as a unique backdrop for the Christmas season at a date to be determined following Thanksgiving weekend, the weekend of November 6th and 7th.
